KHJ: I wanted to be more "manly" before and thought that I was manly at that time. But, come to think of it, it was more like a child trying to emulate manliness. Now I don't necessarily do that anymore. Time passes and you naturally become a man. That's what crosses my mind nowadays.

KHJ: Yo quería ser más "varonil" antes y pensé que lo era en ese momento. Pero, ahora que lo pienso, era más como un niño tratando de emular la hombría. Ahora no hago eso. El tiempo pasa y uno se convierte naturalmente en un hombre. Eso es lo que se me cruza por la mente hoy en día.

You turn 29 in the year 2014. Is it already the time to talk about
passing of time?
KHJ: My friends all had that manly look at age 24. I am rather a little late since I have a baby face (laugh).

2. R: Usted llega a los 29 en el año 2014. ¿Es ya la hora de hablar del paso del tiempo?
KHJ: Todos mis amigos tenían una imagen varonil a los 24 años. Ando un poco tarde en eso, pero es por tener una cara de niño (risas).

I see that the role you took for this upcoming drama has that
masculine character.
KHJ: I don't particularly try to perform my
role in a manly way anymore. My tone of voice is lower which makes my
lines show masculinity. I don't force acting but perform the role as
is which ends up broadening my range of emotions. As I age there are
more parts that I can express. Overall, all is good in many ways now.
What's inside of me became more diverse, and it's nice to take it out
one at a time.
3. R: Veo que el papel que tomó para este próximo drama tiene ese carácter masculino.
KHJ: De ninguna manera tengo un interès particular en que mi actuaciòn sea mas varonil. Mi tono de voz es más bajo lo que hace que mis líneas muestren màs masculinidad. No lo fuerzo en la actuación, pero desempeño el papel recorriendo y ampliando mas allà del rango de mis emociones. Con los años tengo màs emocines que puedo expresar. En general, todo es bueno en muchos sentidos ahora. ¿Lo qué hay dentro de mí se hizo más diverso, y es agradable expresarlo de a una a la vez.

Then what do you take out most often this time?
KHJ: This project/drama will become something that will unravel things I've felt and experienced. Memories about the fights, misunderstandings, conflicts with friends will be unraveled here. If I "pretend" it will become more awkward.

4. R: Entonces, ¿qué sacas con más frecuencia esta vez?
KHJ: Este proyecto /drama se convertirá en algo que va a desentrañar las cosas que he sentido y experimentado. Recuerdos sobre las peleas, malos entendidos, conflictos con los amigos se desenredaron aquí. Si yo "pretendo" será más difícil.

5. R: How is it working with the actresses?
KHJ: I don't know about Jin Sae-Yeon for I haven't done anything with her yet. I like Soo-hyang because she's easygoing. She is not that feminine and straightforward.

KHJ: No sé acerca de Jin Sae-Yeon porque no he hecho nada con ella todavía. Me gusta Soo-Hyang porque es tolerante. Ella es directa y no tan femenina.

Your fans in China would be happy when you get there.
KHJ: Would
they? Haha By the way, I'm planning on being more active in regards
to my Weibo (a chinese SNS). My agency asked to post more photos to
generate more followers. Haha

KHJ: ¿Lo harían? Haha Por cierto, tengo la intención de ser más activo en lo que respecta a mi Weibo (un SNS chino). Mi agencia me pidió publicar más fotos para generar más seguidores. haha
7. R: Does the romanticist character suit you?
KHJ: Romanticist....I don't know it very well. Sounds like protecting someone by being loyal? It's not as if the present era is the Jeosun Dynasty. To be honest, I don't think one can find that many "romanticists" in our generation. People tend to date often casually. Of course, I know the feel of a "romanticist," but I don't think it'll be easy to portray what the authors will write.
7. R: ¿Se siente bien o le va bien al desempeñar El carácter romántico?
KHJ: del romanticismo .... no lo sé muy bien. Suena como protegiendo a alguien por ser leal? No es como en la era actual, es la era de la Dinastía Jeosun. Para ser honesto, no creo que uno puede encontrar muchos "románticos" en nuestra generación. La gente a menudo tiende a tener citas casualmente. Por supuesto, sé lo que es la sensación de un "romántico", pero no creo que será fácil de retratar lo que los autores escriben.
8. R: What are you going to do then? This project is presented as an "emotional, romantic noir."
KHJ: It is packaged that way. haha I think it is more of a period drama. It's rather closer to the drama "The Wild generation" that was very popular some time ago. When this is compared often to "The Wild Generation," it makes me feel good to be compared to such a wonderful drama.
8. R: ¿Qué vas a hacer entonces? Este proyecto se presenta como una, " romántico tràgico-emocional ."
KHJ: El producto está empaquetado de esa manera. jaja creo que es más un drama de época. Es bastante más cerca del drama "La generación Wild", que fue muy popular hace algún tiempo. Cuando esto se compara a menudo a "The Generation Wild", que me hace sentir bien ser partìcipe de un drama tan maravilloso.

9. R: Is there any pressure about this being a big project?
KHJ: No. I don't care more just because the production costs 15 billion Won or care less because it costs 3 billion Won. Really..I don't. I don't know since when but it's become "It is what it is."
9. R: ¿Hay alguna presión sobre este drama para que sea un gran proyecto?
KHJ: No, no me importa más o menos porque los costos de producción sean 15 mil millones won o menos, ya que cuesta 3 mil millones de won. En serio .. No lo hago. No sé desde cuándo, pero se ha convertido en "Es lo que es."
10. R: Then, is filming site comfortable?
KHJ: It is always uncomfortable, not to mention many restrictions, but it's fun. I think it's because of the good actors...what you might call an "ensemble." The things I haven't felt before such as working together and asking each other "did you eat yet?" make me feel like a part of the team. That's what I like. Once you are stuck together somewhere in the country, you have no choice but to get to know each other.
10. R: Entonces, Es còmodo el lugar de filmaciòn?
KHJ: Siempre es incómodo, por no hablar de muchas restricciones, pero es divertido. Creo que es debido a los buenos actores ... lo que se podría llamar un "entramado". Las cosas que no he sentido antes, como trabajar juntos y preguntarse unos a otros "todavía no has comido?" me hacen sentir como una parte del equipo. Eso es lo que me gusta. Una vez que estàn atados juntos en algún lugar del país, no tienes más remedio que llegar a conocerse unos a otros.
11. R: So, could we expect to see some romantic scenes in this drama? To tell you the truth, there were many scenes that were too over-the-top lovey-dovey in the past dramas. For example, you whispered a line "I can go anywhere with a white cloth and the wind" in Boys Over Flowers.
KHJ: The lines are more realistic now so it's easier to act. To be honest, I've only been fighting mostly, so there was no time to do romantic scenes.
11. R: Por lo tanto, podríamos esperar ver algunas escenas románticas en este drama? A decir verdad, había muchas escenas que eran demasiado over-the-top acaramelados en los últimos dramas. 12. R: Then, are you fighting well?
KHJ: Yes. I'm having fun(?). I find that getting beat up makes feel better than hitting someone.

13. R: It sounds like your upcoming China shooting will be fun.
KHJ: It was originally scheduled for a month but looks like we'll be staying for only 2 weeks, which makes it more difficult. But, I'm looking forward to it a lot. The Hong Kong actor, Jackie Chan, is filming there currently at our Chinese filming set. I heard he bought the set to shoot a film. It's going to be fun to shoot the drama as well as see Jackie Chan.
13. R: Al parece que su próximo rodaje en China va a ser divertido.
KHJ: Fue originalmente programado para un mes, pero parece que vamos a quedarnos por sólo 2 semanas, lo que lo hace más difícil. Pero, ansìo mucho que sea ya. El actor de Hong Kong, Jackie Chan, está filmando actualmente en nuestro set de filmación chino. Oí que él compró el conjunto para rodar una película. Va a ser divertido grabar el drama, y tambièn ver a Jackie Chan.
14. R: You have many fans already and that would generate even more fans. How does it feel to know that there are many people all over the world who watches your every move? You even made the cover of a South American magazine.
KHJ: Feels good. I had concerts in Japan this past October, and there were many fans greeting me, making me happy. But honestly, the overseas fans don’t really know me well. They like Ji-hoo from Boys over Flowers, not me (My 2 cents…dear KHJ, you are so wrong about that…lol). I saw that those fans couldn’t get used to what I did there. When I danced in the countries I visited for the first time, they would say “Ji-hoo is dancing well.” They know I’m a singer but because it’s their first time seeing me that way, they are taken aback. Not to mention, I’m physically more fit than when I was in Boys Over Flowers.
14. R: Usted tiene muchos fans ya y que generarían más aficionados. ¿Qué se siente al saber que hay muchas personas en todo el mundo que observa todos sus movimientos? Incluso en la portada de una revista sudamericana.
KHJ: Se siente bien. Tuve conciertos en Japón en octubre pasado, y hubo muchos fans, me saludaban y me hacen feliz. Pero, sinceramente, los fans extranjeros realmente no me conocen bien. Les gusta Ji-hoo de Boys Over Flowers, no yo (Mis 2 centavos ... querido KHJ, eres tan malo en eso ... lol). Vi que los aficionados no podían acostumbrarse a lo que hice allí. Cuando yo bailaba en los países que visité por primera vez, ellos dirían "Ji-hoo està bailando bien." Ellos saben que soy un cantante, pero por ser la primera vez que me vieron de esa manera, quedaron desconcertados. Sin agregar que, físicamente estoy más en forma que cuando estaba en Boys Over Flowers.
